Patty Ruth Whipple was born February 5, 1945, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of John and Kathryn (Roshek) Walker. She graduated from Cedar Rapids Washington High School and furthered her education at the University of Iowa. On July 30, 1966, Patty was united in marriage to Bruce Whipple. To this union, two children were born. Patty was the gift store manager at Koerner Whipple Pharmacy for many years.

In her younger years, Patty was involved in Mothers Club and Bridge Club, as well as a member of a bowling league. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching British TV programs and crime mysteries. She also enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. Patty cherished her children, attending their activities and sporting events as they grew up and she loved that her house was the main hang-out spot for all their friends and neighbors. She was a second mom to so many. Patty loved her pets; especially her grand-pups. She always made sure to have treats on hand for them. Patty and Bruce looked forward to the Buddy Holly event every year at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake with their good friends. They loved to dance! Together, they also travelled, golfed and enjoyed going out for dinner. Once Patty entered assisted living, you could find her tooling around on her Go-Go scooter, attending Bingo and other social activities. She enjoyed getting her hair and nails done, as well as shopping.

Patty is survived by her son: Mark (Jacqueline) Whipple of Hampton; daughter: Erin Whipple of Cedar Rapids; numerous grand-pups and several cousins, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bruce Whipple, aunt Agnus and uncle Jimmy Swatosh and in-laws William and Francis Whipple.
