OBIT: Mary Ann (Betts) Vote

Mary Ann Vote, age 77, of Osage, IA, died on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, in Osage. Funeral Service for Mary Ann will be at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Riceville.

Mary Ann Vote, age 77, of Osage, IA, died on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center, in Osage, IA.

Mary Ann was born on April 30, 1947 to Stoddard and Nellie (Wells) Betts, in Mitchell, Iowa. Mary Ann attended school in Riceville and graduated from Riceville High School in 1965. On May 28, 1966, Mary Ann married Bernard Vote at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Throughout her life, Mary Ann worked as a Deputy Clerk of Riceville, Mosher Doors and Eldorado Doors, secretary for Riceville Fire and Rescue Board, cashier at Andy’s Mini Mart and for the Riceville Lumberyard. In her spare time, Mary Ann was an avid reader and loved to bowl. She was also a part of a Birthday Club with friends, and enjoyed collecting hummingbirds.

Mary Ann is survived by her sisters-in-law Arlys Vote of Riceville, IA, Margaret Vote of Carver, MN, Mary Lou Vote of Elma, IA, Millie Betts of Osage, IA and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard Vote, special friend Alex Adams, 4 half-brothers Donald Collins, Philip Betts, George Betts, infant Miles Edgar, 2 half-sisters June Murphy and Orla Mae Potter, brothers-in-law Merlyn Vote, Clarence Jr. Vote, Roger Vote, Bruce Vote, and sister-in-law Anna Marie Padget.

Funeral Service for Mary Ann will be at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home in Riceville, IA, with Dr. Donna Ihns officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the Hindt-Hudek Funeral Home, in Riceville, and will continue on Saturday for one hour prior to the start of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville, IA.

*In lieu of flowers, Mary Ann has requested memorials be made out to the United Methodist Church in McIntire and the Faith Lutheran Nursing Home.
