Jeanette Kolterman, 81, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, passed away September 28, 2024. Funeral service will be 4:00pm., Saturday, October 19, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Latimer, Iowa. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at 3:00pm at the church.
Jeanette Marie Kolterman was born October 4, 1942, in Hampton, Iowa, a daughter of Victor and Dorothy (Kragel) Schomburg. She was raised in Latimer, being baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church. After high school she earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Concordia University and began teaching.
For most of her 40 plus years teaching, she taught preschool through third grade, at First Lutheran School in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She retired in May 2016. She was active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML). She also served as the First Lutheran Church organist and pianist, played handbells, and sang in the choir.
Jeanette is survived by her four children: Juanita Groomer, Siloam Springs, AR; Tad (Azucena) Kolterman, VA Beach, VA; Carina (Gary) Litton, San Augustine, TX; Monica (Anthony) Johnson, Ft. Smith, AR; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; sister: Sharolyn Sander, Steward, NE; and one niece and one nephew.
She is preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Derald Groomer.
Pallbearers: Anthony Johnson Sr., Anthony Johnson Jr., Aaron Johnson, Tad Kolterman Jr., Ty Sander, Steven Guerra.
