Report: Iowa Medicaid patients’ satisfaction ranks second highest in nation

DES MOINES – Iowa Medicaid patients’ satisfaction with the state’s modernized program ranks second highest in the nation, according to results released earlier this week by JD Power, a global market research company.

Gov. Kim Reynolds reacted to news of the member satisfaction survey Thursday.

“Iowa’s approach to modernizing its Medicaid program is proactive and patient-centered,” Gov. Reynolds said. “I am very pleased with the findings of this survey. Medicaid modernization improves access, gives patients more choices and brings accountability to the program.”

The results also show that Medicaid patients in Iowa, Tennessee, Arizona and Indiana have the easiest access to doctors and hospitals, compared with other states included in the report.

JD Power surveyed 36 states and Washington, D.C. from January-March 2017. The company rated overall satisfaction with managed Medicaid programs using six criteria: provider choice, coverage and benefits, customer service, cost, information and communication and claims processing.
