FARNHAMVILLE, IOWA – A suspect is facing a first-degree murder charge after authorities found the body of a deceased teen girl in this small Northern Iowa town.
On Sunday, September 22, 2024, a juvenile female was reported missing in Farnhamville, Iowa. The Calhoun County’s Sheriff Office was dispatched to the area to investigate the report. During the initial response. A male subject was detained.
Upon further investigation, law enforcement located the deceased body of the missing person on the morning of September 23, 2024, first identified as Jane Doe.
The on-going investigation revealed that on September 24, 2024, 21-year-old Nathaniel Bevers-McGivney (pictured at top) of Gowrie, Iowa, was charged with First-Degree Murder following the investigation into the disappearance and death of M.J., a 17-year-old female. The charge stems from a report that M.J. went missing in Farnhamville on Sunday evening, September 22, 2024. Law enforcement’s investigation resulted in the detention and subsequent arrest of Bevers-McGivney.
According to the police report, “On September 22, 2024, in Calhoun County, Iowa, Nathaniel Bevers-McGivne committed murder in the first degree by willfully, deliberately, and premeditatedly cutting the throat of M.J., a 17-year-old girl, with a knife, with the specific intent to kill M.J. and malice aforethought, causing M.J.’s death.”
The investigation remains ongoing, and Bevers-McGivney is currently being held in custody at the Carroll County Jail.
