Grace Louise (Engels) Lonergan, 97, of Mason City, Iowa died Monday, September 9, 2024 at the Nora Springs Care Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Friday, September 13, 2024 at Epiphany Parish – Holy Family Catholic Church, 722 N Adams Ave, Mason City, Iowa, with Rev. Dave O’Connor as Celebrant. Burial will be held in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Rockwell, Iowa.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Friday, September 13, 2024 at the church.
Family kindly suggests that memorials be made to Epiphany Parish.
Grace Lonergran was born on August 12, 1927, in Rockwell, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Mathilda Engels. Grace attended country school until the age of eleven when her parents moved into Rockwell. She then attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, and graduated from there in 1945. She attended Hamilton College then worked for Standard Oil and Sears for 17 years.
Grace was united in marriage to Roland “Ron” Lonergan, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rockwell, by Father Raymond Bohrer on May 29, 1948. To this union two children were born, Kathleen and Stephen. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Ron and Grace were married 63 years. Grace was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church for many years. Grace enjoyed bike riding, walking and reading.
Those left to cherish memories of Grace are her son-in-law, Gaylan Willert of Rochester, MN; daughter-in-law, Lindia Lonergan of Gwinn, MI; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roland “Ron”; son, Stephen, daughter, Kathleen; two sisters, two brothers, and two great grandsons.
