Lowell Elroy Nuehring, 82, passed away Thursday, August 15, 2024 at home in Clear Lake, Iowa.
Lowell was born June 6, 1942 in Belmond, Iowa, the son of Rudolph and LaReta (Nolte) Nuehring. He grew up on the family farm and attended Clear Lake High School. Lowell worked at NIACC most of his adult life where he retired as head of maintenance.
In September 1967 he was united in marriage to Linda Wolfe. They made their home in Clear Lake. They had one child, Dana Lynn. Lowell was a family man and Linda and Dana were truly the light of his life. He cherished every moment he had with them.
Lowell enjoyed working with his hands and spent long hours in his garage. He designed and built custom cabinetry, remodeled homes, built decks and could fix just about anything. He owned and operated Nuehring Construction for years as a side job. Lowell had a loving heart and always opened his home to family, friends, and neighbors. He cherished the long hours putting together puzzles with his nephew Steve. He enjoyed playing cards (especially 31), loved attending stock car races, family gatherings, and just spending time outdoors on his deck swing. Lowell had a great sense of humor and was always ready with a new dad joke. During the summer months you could find Lowell tending to his pool in the backyard. He enjoyed it when friends and family stopped over for a quick dip in the pool. In his younger years he built and operated the LLD Food Express Lunch Wagon and would travel to the North Iowa fair and auctions with the family.
Survivors include his loving daughter Dana (Sonny) Anjum, sisters-in-law Joyce Nuehring, Deanna Jordan, brother-in-law Robert (Sandy) Wolfe, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Honorary mention to these special people in Lowell’s life, Lisa and Mike Lacey and their children Tanner, Bryar and Jake.
Lowell was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, his parents, siblings; Arthur Ressler, Phyllis Huffaker, Richard (Dorothy) Nuehring, Ronald Nuehring, and Darold Nuehring, brothers-in-law Harold Wolfe and Raymond Jordan.
