Wynne Ann DeVos, the daughter of Walter and Lola (Bennett) Mathine, was born June 6, 1952, in Plainview, Nebraska. She passed away peacefully at home with family in Spirit Lake, Iowa, on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the age of 72 years.

Wynne graduated from Estherville High School in 1970. She then attended the College of St. Mary in Omaha, Nebraska, and received her degree in nursing. After college, while working at Sheldon Hospital, Wynne met the love of her life and devoted husband, James DeVos. Wynne and Jim were united in marriage on February 3, 1973, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Estherville.

The couple made their home in Estherville and raised their children: Jason Walter, Sara Ann Marie, Jeremiah James, and Joshua Bennett. Throughout the years, Wynne worked as a registered nurse, daycare provider, and she took great pride in being a homemaker. Before his passing in 2022, Wynne and Jim devoted themselves to caring for their oldest son, Jason, as he fought a brave battle with ALS for 13 years. Wynne enjoyed shopping, garage sales, and decorating her home with her newfound treasures. She was very proud of her doll collection. Most of all, Wynne treasured spending her days with her husband, Jim, and her family.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and former member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Left to cherish Wynne’s memory are her husband, Jim; daughter, Sara Roberts (Shayne Graff), sons, Jeremiah DeVos (Lisa Brown) and Josh DeVos (Nicki); 13 Grandchildren: Eric (Betsy) and Gavin DeVos; Brody (Allison), Gage, and Eagan Roberts and Ryker and Harper Graff; Brennan (Kirsten Steimle), Cade and Olivia DeVos and Jordyn Brown; Camden and Celeste DeVos; 4 Great-Grandchildren: Bennie and Geordie DeVos and Theo and Eli Roberts; brother, Wayne (Gail) Mathine; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Randa DeVos, and several nieces and nephews.

Wynne was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jason DeVos, and nephew, Michael Mathine.

The family would like to extend gratitude to Lakes Regional Home Care and Hospice staff.

In lieu of flowers, our family requests contributions be made to the Wynne DeVos Memorial, from which a donation will be made to Lakes Regional Home Care and Hospice. Memorials can be sent to Jim DeVos, 710 38th Street, Spirit Lake, IA 51360.
