Minneapolis city councilman who slammed police is carjacked, now claims he’s a “victim”

MINNEAPOLIS – This Minneapolis city councilman, proud immigrant, and possible fraudster who has previously slammed police in his crime-riddled city and is backed by the controversial Rep. Ilhan Omar, was carjacked Monday night, and bawled for help to police, the mayor, and others after his harrowing brush with violent crime.

“Earlier tonight, I was the victim of a carjacking. I’m safe and home with my family in Phillips West,” said freshly-elected democrat Minneapolis councilman Jamal Osman.  He bested Mohamoud Hassan in the November 5 election for city council in Minneapolis

“I really appreciate the quick response from Minneapolis police, and the outreach from Mayor Jacob Frey and Chief of Police O’Hara.”

Osman said in a released statement Monday night, “Earlier this evening, around 8:00 p.m., while parked near Portland Avenue and Lake Street and making a call to my sister, I was the victim of a carjacking. Thankfully, I am safe and unharmed. Minneapolis Police responded quickly to the incident. I want to thank them – and also Chief O’Hara and Mayor Frey- for reaching out and checking in tonight. Earlier in the evening, another victim and their child were also carjacked by what police believe to be the same suspects, described as two youth. My heart goes out to them – no one should have to experience this kind of trauma in our city. I’m home now in Phillips West with my family, and I want to assure neighbors that I’m okay. This incident is another reminder of the work ahead to keep all of our communities safe.”

Osman is back by – and is a huge fan of – democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar, who regularly speaks her native Somalian language to her thousands of local voters, and constantly slams President Donald Trump, who told her to leave the USA.

“I have no worry if they deport me,” Omar retorted to President Trump.

Osman has expressed that Minneapolis police are “broken,” and that the death of George Floyd should not have been necessary to recognize this.  Some in Minnesota claim he has advocated for defunding police.

According to Alpha News, a nonprofit “Stigma Free International” created by Jamal Osman was examined at an on-going fraud trial in Minnesota this year. The nonprofit was allegedly used in a “Feeding Our Future scheme” after being acquired from Osman. In October 2020, Osman handed over control of his organization to a new group of owners who are accused of using it to defraud federal child nutrition programs. Stigma Free International claimed to be feeding 3,000 lunches a day, every day, out of a small storefront, with little variation, Alpha News reported. The co-conspirators received more than $4 million in Federal Child Nutrition Program funds based on these claims.
