Marion Huff, 91, of Mason City, Iowa passed away Monday May, 20th while under Hospice care at IOOF in Mason City, Iowa. A Graveside Service will be held at 4:30 pm on Thursday May 23, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Marion Huff, 91, of Mason City, Iowa passed away Monday May, 20th while under Hospice care at IOOF in Mason City, Iowa.

A Graveside Service will be held at 4:30 pm on Thursday May 23, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 11495 265th Street, Mason City, Iowa. Following the Graveside Service there will be a Celebration of Life Gathering at Marion’s home, 1604 Meadowbrook Drive, Mason City, Iowa starting at approximately 5:00 pm.

Marion was born in Fontanelle, Iowa July 15, 1932 to Samuel and Alice (Bond) Huff. He was born the third of four children, he lost his father early and was raised by his mother. His mother instilled in him a great work ethic. He joined the Air Force and learned welding while stationed in Greenland.

In 1962 he married Marlene Sierp. They had one daughter, Susan Ann (Sue). They spent most of their life together in the North Iowa area. Over the years they lived in Mason City, Nora Springs, Ventura and spent 17 years together living the summers in Rockwell, Iowa and the winters in Gold Canyon, Arizona. After Marlene’s death in 2015 he moved back to Mason City where he remained active with home improvement projects and completed a bucket list project of rebuilding a Datsun 280z.

Marion may not have had a lot of formal education, but he could build or fix just about anything. He worked as a mechanic most of his life. He had several business ventures over the years which included, a snowmobile business, auto repair shop, and lawn mowing business. He was willing to help anyone with any projects.

When he retired from the car dealership in 1997 he and Marlene continued to mow lawns in the summer and spent their winters in Arizona. He spent every winter in Arizona since then up until this last winter. When he was not working on a project he enjoyed golfing. Over the years he taught many people to golf and water ski. He made many friends along the way.

Marion is survived by his daughter, Sue (Dave) Goranson; his grandsons, Kyle (Andisha) Goranson and Alex Goranson; one great granddaughter, Kolibri Goranson; sister, LaVonne Jensen; sister in-law, Dee Huff; brother in-law, Bob (Marcia) Sierp; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Huff, parents, Samuel and Alice Huff, Irvin and Lucille Sierp; brothers, Morris and Cliff Huff.
