Senate candidate Joni Ernst wants IRS investigated

DES MOINES – On Tuesday, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Joni Ernst is asked for a special prosecutor to conduct an independent investigation into the ongoing IRS scandal and Democratic Congressman and U.S. Senate candidate Bruce Braley’s involvement.

“We have a government that has sat on its hands while Veterans were denied care and now we have a government that is allowing the IRS to abuse its power by singling out and targeting individuals and organizations based on politics,” Ernst said. “This type of bullying by our federal government is deplorable, and not only has Bruce Braley failed to defend against such intrusions, but he has actually sent a letter to the IRS encouraging it.”

Last week it was reported that IRS chief Lois Lerner was targeting Senator Chuck Grassley. The email sent by Lerner directing staff on December 12, 2012 to look into Grassley came just months after Braley sent a letter encouraging the IRS to single out organizations on March 28, 2012.

Ernst also went on to reiterate her call for Braley to turn over communications and contributions related to the growing scandal, “And again, Bruce Braley needs to come clean by publicly releasing the email communications he and his staff had with the IRS and immediately return any and all contributions he received from the IRS employees union.”

This is a good idea Joni, but, who are you going to get for that special prosecutor, that is not controlled by our corrupt government.
