BOONE – A Mason City man narrowly avoided a long stretch behind bars for his crimes.
Last week, 28-year-old Alexander Mariano Rivera of Mason City was sentenced by the District Court following guilty pleas to Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver, a Class C Felony; and second-degree OWI, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
The defendant was sentenced to 11 years in prison, with all but 7 days suspended. On the suspended portion, the defendant was placed on probation with terms to include completion of a substance abuse evaluation with follow through of treatment, a course for drinking drivers, plus payment of a fine and fees.
The case was investigated by the Boone County Sherrif’s Office.
