CLEAR LAKE – The Clear Lake Police Department has reported that between the dates of November 21st amd November 26th, a semi-trailer was stolen from the Serta mattress plant, located at 500 South 17th Street.

The trailer is described as a 2001 48Ft Great Dane Semi Trailer with WI Plate: STL 460795.  The trailer had blue sides with Serta Logo and says “We make the World’s Best Mattress”.  Police said that this is an old advertisement style and the stolen trailer is the only one of its kind that would be out and about. The trailer was loaded with 88 mattresses and or box springs.

Another characteristic of the trailer is that is has an overhead roll door in the rear instead of french style swinging doors.

Police said that according to the District Manager, within the last year, several Serta plants have had thefts in this same manner.

These include plants in Cincinnati, OH, Beloit, WI, and Whitsett, NC, totaling 10 trailer thefts including the latest in Clear Lake.

Anyone with any information that might help solve this crime should call the Clear Lake Police Department at 641-357-2186.
