Trump held in contempt of court, must pay $10,000 per day until documents turned over

New York State Attorney General Letitia James

NEW YORK – In a major victory for the New York Attorney General, a court has put Donald Trump in contempt of court.

“Donald Trump must pay $10,000 per day for every day that he continues to defy the court’s order to turn over documents to my office,” said New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Earlier this month, James said her “office is filing a motion to hold Donald Trump in contempt of court.  Despite a crystal clear order from the court, Donald Trump has refused to turn over documents as part of our investigation into him and the Trump Organization’s financial dealings.”

The same Manhattan Judge also ruled today that Cushman & Wakefield – a real estate firm – must comply with an investigation into Donald Trump and the Trump Organization’s financial dealings and turn over documents to James’ office by May 27, 2022.

Trump’s legal team reportedly plans to appeal.
