MASON CITY – A former Mason City firefighter accused of sexual abuse of a teen has entered a guilty plea in the case and awaits sentencing.

Gendel Benjamin Ugale Bimbo, a 29-year-old former Mason City firefighter and paramedic, has entered a guilty plea to a charge of felony third-degree sexual abuse. Reports show that the alleged crime took place on January 23, 2019 at a Mason City hotel involving a teen. Mason City police filed the charge on May 2 and Bimbo was served and arrested that day. He soon resigned from his job with the City of Mason City; he had been hired in January of 2018 after the city council unanimously approved hiring him. Bimbo once turned in a “supplies & laundry” bill to the city worth $1,149.99.

Bimbo, how is free at this time, is represented by Mason City attorney Rich Piscopo. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for January 21, 2020 at 10:00 AM.

A 10-year prison sentence is possible.

He was sentenced to the full 10 years… registered offender for life.
But unfortunately there’s been a notification he’s being released this January 2026 for good behavior…there should’ve been two charges, he shouldn’t be getting out early.

He shouldn’t be getting out this early at all, he’s a manipulative predator, mentally ill man and a rapist. He should be in prison for life.

What happen to him?
