IOWA CITY – The Iowa women’s basketball team opened up the season on November 7 with a victory over Florida Atlantic, 85-53.
Senior Kathleen Doyle scored her 1,000th career point in the first quarter. Following tonight’s game, Doyle tallies 1,008 career points.
Five Hawkeyes scored in double figures, including Kathleen Doyle (15), Alexis Sevillian (12), Monika Czinano (14), McKenna Warnock (10), and Gabbie Marshall (11).
All four freshmen scored in their collegiate debut, including Gabbie Marshall (11), McKenna Warnock (10), Kate Martin (4), and former Mason City Mohawk Megan Meyer (3). Her senior sister, Mackenzie Meyer, was 2-11 from the floor for 7 points and 6 rebounds.
Freshman McKenna Warnock recorded her first career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Hawkeyes will take on North Alabama Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in Carver Hawkeye Arena.
