CHARLES CITY – Traffic cameras now active in Charles City will help keep motorists within the law and raise funds all at the same time.
Police in Charles City announced this month that traffic enforcement cameras “are powered up will start issuing warnings” throughout the month of March. “They will only issue warnings/tickets on speeds at 10 mph and above the posted speed limit.”
Police usually advise that slower moving traffic is safer for kids and pedestrians and helps cut back on accidents and noise.
Traffic cameras in Charles City are located on S. Grand Avenue by 11th Street; Highway 14 by S. Iowa Street; Highway 18 by L Street; and Gilbert Street as you leave town.
More and more communities in Iowa are using traffic cameras, including Des Moines and most recently, Webster City.
