Man charged with attempted murder after shooting woman in chest in Ames
AMES – A man has been charged with attempted murder after shooting a woman in the chest Saturday afternoon in Ames.
On January 12, 2019, at 4:16 p.m., Ames Police were called to Mary Greeley Medical Center for a report of a female who was being treated for a gunshot wound. According to the victim and a witness, the female was shot in the chest by a male while inside a residence at 122 S. Russell Avenue. The victim was transported by private vehicle to Mary Greeley Medical Center. The victim is in stable condition. Her name is not being released at this time.
The suspect in the shooting has been identified as Rodney D. Halterman, age 18, address unknown. An arrest warrant has been issued for the following offense: Attempted Murder, a class “B” felony.
Investigation into this incident continues by the Ames Police Department.
