Drivers avoid injury in two-car collision outside Mason City

RURAL MASON CITY – A two-car collision Saturday outside Mason City resulted in no injuries and a citation.

On May l2, 2018 at around 1:30 PM there was a two-car collision at the southbound intersection of 300th Street and Orchid Avenue in Cerro Gordo County. A 2012 Silver Buick Verano being driven by 82-year- old Shirley Jean Muth of Garner, Iowa was stopped at the intersection, as she pulled away from the stop sign to proceed through the intersection, a 1998 Copper-colored Toyota Corolla being driven by 19-year-old Kadyn Daniel Morrison of Manly, Iowa was southbound on Orchid Avenue when he struck Muth’s vehicle. Both drivers refused medical treatment from Mason City Fire Medics and no injuries were reported.

Shirley Muth was cited for Fail to Yield upon Entering a through Highway, and Kadyn Morrison was cited for Failure to have a Valid Driver’s License, and Violation — Financial Liability Coverage — Accident Related.

Both drivers involved in this collision were wearing their safety belts.
