GREENE, IOWA – The North Iowa-based nonprofit group My Happy Place has helped renovate a bedroom for a deserving little boy in Greene who is battling a lifelong heart condition.

My Happy Place announced its latest bedroom makeover. This one is for a little boy with a life-threatening heart condition. Last week, the bedroom belonging to Landry Hull was emptied and turned into a new “Relax Room” (as Landry refers to it). Landry’s Relax Room is designed to brighten his spirits and help him enjoy the time he spends there.

Landry, who lives at 401 Lavonne Street in Green, saw his room for the first time on Sunday morning, March 4th.

“The inspiration for his room was born after Landry stated he wanted to be a fireman when he grew up,” according to a social media post from My Happy Place. “Not only is Landry’s room all decked out in a fireman theme, but the family was welcomed home for his Reveal by the Greene Fire Department, with lights and sirens a blazing! After seeing his room, Landry and a few others, were given a ride in the fire trucks and judging from the wave and smile on Landry’s face, he was in pure heaven! Thank you, Neil Nordmeyer and the Greene Fire Dept. for making a little boy’s dreams come true!”

Mechanical Air Systems, Mason City, is sponsoring Landry’s room with an additional donation from American Tool & Engineering, Greene.

“5-year-ld Landry is the perfect recipient for a bedroom makeover,” said My Happy Place Co-Founder Lisa Tan. “He was born at 27 weeks gestation and has already undergone 5 surgeries, with another to take palce in the future. Despite it all, he keeps a great attitude, and he is VERY excited to see his new room!”

Landry calls his new room his “relax room”.

Families of two former My Happy Place recipients helped with Landry’s room. They were the Glen & Kaci Harper Family (Madisyn Harper) and the Doug and Kendra Mennen Family (Heather), who had rooms done back in 2013 and 2015.
