
HAMILTON COUNTY – One man was killed and two others hurt in a head-on crash in Hamilton county.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident took place on Friday, November 15, 2024. At 6:30 AM that morning on Highway 69 in Hamilton county, just north of Blairsburg, a 2021 Jeep Renegade driven by 27-year-old Cole Lanz of Williams was northbound on Highway 69 and attempted to pass another vehicle. Hid Jeep was struck head-on by a southbound 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by 51-year-old Carlos Vielman Castillo of Postville, Iowa. The vehicles came to rest in the roadway. A third vehicle, southbound a 2024 Freightliner Cascadia semi driven by 32-year-old Justin Norton of Belmond struck the Dodge.
As a result of the accident, Cole Lanz was killed. Castillo and another man, 28-year-old Jilmer Vielman Monroy of Belmond, were hurt.
