Praise Jesus: Bible bill for public schools moves forward in Iowa Legislature

DES MOINES – A bill in the Iowa Legislature that would require public schools to set standards for classes on teaching about the Bible has moved ahead.

The bill, which was approved this week by a small panel in the Iowa House, calls for preparation and professional development by educators employed by a school district to teach a course on the Hebrew Scriptures or a course on the New Testament of the Bible. A school district may offer and teach a course to provide students with knowledge of biblical content, characters, poetry, and narratives that are prerequisites to understanding contemporary society and culture, including but not limited to literature, art, music, mores, oratory, and public policy as well as the contents of the Hebrew Scriptures or the New Testament of the Bible.

A leading Christian group in Iowa, the Family Leader, praised the bill’s passage out of committee this week, saying, “Another step forward in helping schools realize, yes you CAN teach about the (no, not forbidden) book that has the single, greatest impact on American culture, history, art, law, and literature, the Bible.”

ACLU and Planned Parenthood lobbyists have come out against the bill.

A House committee will now consider the bill’s future.

Education begins at home.

Liberals hate God.

Conservatives think they are gods.

Liberals are the DEVIL. bodacious is thinks he is Satan himself.

Financing education is far more important than forced religious education. Not fair to atheists and agnostics. Politicians- Deal with the real issues.

Censorship is strong on NIT.

Bullwinkel

YOU certainly should know!

Schools should not be teaching from any religious book. That is not their function.

Public School are the biggest evil in this country. Most of the teachers are liberal hacks that poison the minds of our youth.

The biggest mistake the American People ever made was turning education over to the Government.

I seriously doubt teaching the Bible will ever be allowed and if it is, the sic teachers we have teaching our kids will warp the curriculum to put down any faith in a higher power.

Most teachers were created by birds that shit on fence posts and the sun hatched them.

SPOT ON!

Then home school so they will ignorant assholes like you.

Home schooled.

Get a life ass wipe.

Public schools were created with one intention social engineering, the Jesuits the military arm of the Roman Catholic Church designed all public all college and all university’s, including Ivy league institutions.

A Salaam Alaikum! Our time has come as this now opens the door for the True God to be revealed.

I think it will interesting to see how this plays out. Right now, in the state of Iowa, over 100 schools offer classes that do pretty much what this bill wants to allow. The only difference is that this bill directs the Board of Education to develop standards for the class. To do so will cost money. And it opens the door for all elective classes taught in Iowa to have standards which must be created the the state DOE. More money. This bill also doesn’t require any district to start this course it just says if they do, the teachers must go through professional development and preparation to teach the class. More money. The Bible, as stated before, is already taught as literature in over 100 schools. About the only restrictions on the class are that the course cannot be mandatory and no religion can be taught as ‘as the truth, although the history or traditions of various religions can be taught academically as part of a history, sociology or similar class’. That is not going to sit well with Christian fundamentalists. So, who determines the course content? I hope it isn’t going to be our politicians.

“…the teachers must go through professional development and preparation to teach the class.” I know of one ex-teacher who had no development of any kind, professional or otherwise, but especially professional.

More training than you ever had, that is a fact.

You don’t know that of which you speak. Are you counting your arrested development?

I had more training than you have now when I moved to 5th grade from 4th grade.

And you forgot it by the time you were in 6th grade. Most unprofessional teacher ever. He wouldn’t have lasted a year if the union hadn’t protected him.

If everybody would live by the teachings in the Bible, (that for centuries was the standard) much of the killing, drugs, and daily strife in family’s could be greatly reduced.

Name a war that did not start over religion.

Great point!

WWI WW2

Wrong

War is about the control of money and resources. Religion is used as an excuse. All of course but the Nation of Islam that is at war with everyone that refuses to believe in some pervert named Mohamed that wrote the Koran while he was high on drugs.

Let’s get some Church of Satan and Mustlim education in along with it.

I disagree with this. Teaching the bible is not a school responsibiity.

I see the libs are all checking in.

How about a course to study the Koran.

As long as they keep teaching evolution, which is the real truth, I guess it’s okay to also discuss a work of fiction.
