MASON CITY – A Clear Lake woman is guilty of thefts from at least four Mason City retailers.
The latest attempted crime by 31-year-old Mollie Kathleen Macdormott took place on the evening of December 13, 2016. Mason City police were called to the Hy-Vee Drugstore, located at 875 4th Street SW. After an investigation, Macdormott was arrested on charges of fifth-degree theft and trespassing.
Later in December, MacDormott pled guilty to fifth-degree theft and was given a 12-day jail sentence. The trespassing charge was dismissed.
MacDormott is currently facing a charge of fifth-degree theft from an incident December 12, 2016. The charge was brought by Clear Lake police. She pled not guilty and awaits trial.
Earlier in December, Macdormott allegedly attempted to steal from other stores in Mason City, including Walmart, Target and Goodwill. In a plea deal, Macdormott faced three charges of fifth-degree theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. In a plea deal, she pled guilty to just one count of fifth-degree theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was sentenced to 8 days in jail. She must pay $530.65 in court fees and costs.
Currently, Macdormott is facing an assault charge after an incident in September in Mason City. After a continuance, she will face a jury trial on February 28, 2017. She is now in the county jail after she was rounded up this weekend on an arrest warrant.
Maybe they should just lock her up as a habital offender. She will never pay her fines and probation sure won’t work.
Oh no…… she has to go to Beje Clark first, then escape twice, commit 2 or 3 burglaries, and then the police have to catch her each time, get assaulted, and her not pay her fine. Then she will get 120 days in jail.
I’d like to see this one go through drug court and get her life back together. She has been like this for her entire adult life. She needs to fix the problem before she can change. Stop worrying about another man to marry and have a baby with, and figure out how to be an adult, and a mother to the kids she already has. Regardless of if they have been taken from her or not, they will always need to know that their mother loved them very much. It’s time to show them that she is willing to do anything for them.
