MASON CITY – A Mason City teen was hurt Friday morning as he long boarded in the downtown area.
Allan Shafer and his friend Aaron Sage, both 14, were out enjoying the day this morning when Allan fell off his long board (a type of skate board), near the corner of North Washington Avenue and 1st Street and suffered an injury.
Aaron, who was riding his bike, was following Allan, when “he (Allan Shafer) fell off his long board and hit his head,” Aaron told an NIT reporter, still shaken up from seeing his friend hurt. “He had a seizure then.”
An emergency call was made and police and fire EMT’s raced to the scene to tend to the fallen youngster. He was loaded onto a stretcher and taken away from the scene.
Aaron called a friend for a ride. The long board may have been damaged in the accident as well.

This was me Allan shafer and still am not waring a helmet to this day

I REST MY CASE
Your a tool buddy
Actually helmets and pads could be seen as cool if the pros began pushing them, and skaters realized the freedom they bring to try riskier stunts. Not having helmets and pads means you are a slacker…or so the meme could go.
You are also a tool, lmao slacker?
your a slackertool for posting that
Great story – last week the chain on my bicycle broke while on a power stroke – cracked both go-nads and did a Hillery dance for about 15 seconds in front of a bunch of Bernie protesters in front of the solar powered taxpayer funded libitarian library. Ouch Ouch Ouch ! I know your pain young man!
isn’t it illegal to ride a skate board in the down town area???
Yep
OK beastyman2025..My son who was the teen hurt in the incident, wrote that statement. He suffered a concussion today. Sorry his comment was up to your level ! I am glad we was wake and doing fine.
I would like to thank his friend for staying with him, the gentleman from the park who called me right away, also the drivers of the cars who protected him from the traffic. All the Professionals that did they job, and helped my son! I hope God bless you all in the ways you need it most.
Last I heard he is alright. Taking it easy the next couple days, but no worse for wear.
You actually gave the status of the long board? Who wrote this a 3rd grader
This is allan and it was cuz if the rain and the trucks on the longbord
I passed these two when walking downtown to the cellphone repair shop this morning…Crazy. Little did I know a horrible accident was going to happen.
Kids don’t think it’s cool to wear a helmet but how cool is it to have brain damage or dead…come on! It should be a law like seat belts
I think it’s stupid how somthing like this happens and all you can talk about is no helmets! Seriously this is a time to hope that everyone is alright!
It’s stupid when people that do activities that common sense says wear a helmet and they don’t and get hurt.
no helmet?
kids dont wear helmets anymore…its not “cool”
