Mason City man accused of dealing meth will finally face sentencing

MASON CITY – A Mason City man accused of dealing methamphetamine back in 2012 – as well as theft – may finally face sentencing after his case has played out in courts for years.

Jesse James Johnson, age 27, was arrested on June 16, 2012 on a warrant for one Class C felony count of delivery of meth in relation to an investigation by The North Iowa Area Drug Task Force. Since then, court records show nearly four years of not guilty pleas and guilt pleas, notes about confidential informants, warrants, requests for more information, hearings and letters submitted to the court.

Court records show Johnson pleaded guilty all the way back in August of 2012 – but he has never been sentenced. He was arrested later that year by Mason City police for fourth degree theft. However, he did not enter a not guilty plea until August of 2015. He was due for a jury trial back in September of 2015, but that trial never took place.

Now, Johnson is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on Monday, February 15. He is also set for extradition to Arizona on an undisclosed charge.

Now if they could only do the same to his mom the world would be a better place.

It is about time they put that dumb ass away.
