FORT DODGE, IOWA – A tragic accident Saturday afternoon on an Iowa road took the life of one boy and injured four other children.
According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, the fatal accident took place Saturday, February 13 at about 2:15 PM on county road D14, about 3.5 miles east of Fort Dodge. A 2003 Chevy Venture driven by 18-year-old Rose Touney was westbound on that road when the vehicle drifted onto the north shoulder and entered a ditch. The Chevy then rolled, and ejected all 5 child passengers into a field. None of them were wearing seatbelts.
The driver, Rose Touney , was wearing a seatbelt and sustained an injury. She was taken to Unity Point Hospital. Four children with a last name of Touney were also injured; their ages were 11 (Joseph), 7 (Benjamin), 6 (Jennifer) and 5 (Sam) years old.
A 13-year-old boy, Duane Touney, was killed as a result of this crash. All persons involved were from Fort Dodge.
The crash remains under investigation.

What a shame, 18 years old and will have to carry the thought for the rest of her life, that she, through negligence, killed her brother, and it could have been worse. Buckle up them children.
