Two hurt in auto accident in Mason City

MASON CITY – A driver and his child passenger were hurt in a single-vehicle accident Tuesday evening in rural Mason City.

On August 18th, 2020 at 10:10 PM, Cerro Gordo County Deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle personal injury accident in the 11000 block of 263rd street in Cerro Gordo County. Eugene Calvin Poole, 49, of Mason City was driving a Tan 2007 Ford Freestyle when he lost control of the vehicle and entered the south ditch. Poole and passenger Ava Ann-Marie Nitcher, age 9 also of Mason City, were both transported to Mercy One of North Iowa by ambulance for non-life threatening injuries. They were the only occupants of the vehicle.

Poole was cited for Failure to maintain control and for an unrestrained minor.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Mason City and Clear Lake fire department.

So Eugene, what were you doing out there at 10:10pm with a 9 year old that caused you to lose control on a straight road?
