Iowa man dies after crashing into parked vehicle on Interstate ramp

iowa-state-patrol-logo-doorDALLAS COUNTY, IOWA – A crash occurred in Dallas County, Iowa on November 14, 2015 and cost a man his life.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, 28-year-old Danny Lynn Dunton of Van Meter, Iowa, was driving westbound on Interstate 80 at 1:36 AM Saturday, November 14 when he began to exit at the Van Meter interchange. Dunton’s Volkswagen then struck a vehicle that was parked on the shoulder, causing his vehicle to come to rest on its top in a ditch.

Mr. Dunton did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Inside the parked vehicle was 52-year-old James Donald Renshaw of Council Bluffs. He was not injured.

According to his obituary, Mr. Dunton was born March 13, 1987 in Des Moines. He enjoyed fishing, watching football, weight lifting and most of all, spending time playing and reading with his daughter Sophia.

The accident remains under investigation.
