MASON CITY – City hall has scheduled a time for the public to learn more about and see concepts for a downtown parking ramp project for downtown Mason City.

The City of Mason City is hosting a public informational meeting on concepts developed for the Downtown Multi-Level Parking Structure project being planned for construction in 2016. The purpose of the meeting is to unveil the three concepts developed by WHKS/Kimley Horn/Miller Dunwiddie, provide information relating to each of the concepts, and gather comments from attendees. The parking structure is being planned and designed in conjunction with a Marriott Hotel which will be located on property directly west of the City Hall building.

The meeting is open to the public on Thursday, November 19th from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Conference Room A on the 2nd floor of City Hall.

The parking ramp, is part of a $36 million renovation for the downtown, which could include a hotel, music pavilion, mixed-use building and an ice area.

STOP THE MADNESS!!!

It would be a waste of time and energy to go to this meeting and voice my opinion. My one and only hope is the hotel falls through and it just might.

You better hope it don’t cause either way you are gonna pay for it genius.

No, I am not. Only a fool like you would support something like this.

Mercy didn’t build a parking ramp because the cost was prohibitive. It was far cheaper to buy houses and move them. But the City is willing to spend our tax money on such a luxury. I’m surprised they haven’t used eminent domain and just torn down everything but City Hall around there to pave parking spots.

This is madness. Why build a parking ramp for a hotel that won’t get much business anyway? If I was visiting Mason City in the next decade I’ll go to the new Hampton their building on HWY 18. There needs to be a focus on attractions in downtown before we decide on pouring millions into empty parking spots. I think a parking ramp would have been more appropriate at Mercy before they decided to move people’s homes.

OMG is it really going to happen? Im so excited i think I just shit my pants. OMG this is exciting> NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
