MASON CITY – A Clear Lake man already facing felony drug charges in a neighboring county was caught with the powerful narcotic methamphetamine as he drove through Mason City late Tuesday.
A Cerro Gordo deputy conducted a traffic stop on Tuesday evening just before 11 PM near 12th Street NW and Taft Avenue. A convicted drunk driver was behind the wheel, 26-year-old Andrew Dean Williams, of Clear Lake. During the ensuing search, the deputy found that Williams has a suspended driver’s license. The deputy also discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Williams was arrested and his vehicle impounded. He was taken to jail on the drug possession charge as well as driving under suspension and possession of drug paraphernalia and held on bond.
Williams is facing a felony drug possession charge in Franklin county at this time. He was charged by Hampton police and awaits a trial on October 15.
