CORALVILLE, IOWA – A Coralville Police Officer was at the Coral Ridge Mall, 1451 Coral Ridge Avenue, Coralville, Iowa, at approximately 7:30 PM, June 12, 2015, investigating an unrelated matter when he heard gun shots in the mall. He immediately communicated this over the police radio. Multiple area law enforcement officers responded to the mall. Upon arrival near the information desk inside the mall, officers found victim, Andrea Farrington, with multiple gunshot wounds to her torso. Farrington was transported to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa, where she was pronounced dead.

Multiple witnesses on the scene helped law enforcement officers identify the shooter as mall security employee Alexander Kozak, 22. Witnesses also reported hearing and seeing three shots being fired by Kozak. Three (3), 9 MM casings and three (3) fired bullets were recovered from the scene. A witness that saw the shooting observed Kozak flee in a blue Kia Optima bearing Texas registration plates.

SAC Rahn interviewed Kozak who stated he had left the mall, retrieved a gun from his residence in North Liberty. Pretty young girl had her life ended before it even had a chance to get started. If someone else had a gun they might have prevented this from happening. This is on the liberals heads just like most of our social problems today.

How about blaming the shooter? He was a legal carrier of the gun. He walked in, shot this young woman, and ran out. How would someone have stopped this? You are a f_____ fool.

there was 2 people shot but 1 killed. If someone else was carrying it is possible they could have saved the one from being killed or saving both from being shot. Being an armchair quarterback does nothing but cause problems. You were not there so you do not know.

And neither do you

I have a better idea than you.

And you are wrong ontwo counts, first, only 1 person was shot, and your idea is not better than mine. Did you know that Kozak had a permit to carry? He should have shot himself.

according to the police radio at the time there was 2 shot but 1 killed. If you want to be a pacifist that is your right, die with the rest of them but I choose to arm and defend myself and my family. It doesn’t matter if the suspect has a CCW or not, that doesn’t mean that everybody with a CCW will turn into a murderer. You live your life in fear and I won’t.

First off, I don’t live my life in fear. That is why I don’t carry a gun. Secondly, I have guns-not hand guns but 4 rifles and 2 shotguns. I use them for hunting. What does what I said have to do with being a pacifist? I said you were wrong and you couldn’t admit it, so you blamed it on the police radio.

Must have been a dumb a$$ libraterd like you.

not all liberals are anti gun but most are, not all liberals are pacifists but most are therefore we can conclude that not all liberals have been brainwashed, some were just born that way, they call that being still born. actually it is there right to choose not to own a gun, the still born part is when they criticize those that do own a gun.

Good points.

More people with ability fire a weapon doesn’t make the scenario better. Just because your trained carry a weapon, doesn’t mean your capable of dealing with a conflict.

I mentioned earlier in this posting that I saved a womans life, I stopped a man from killing her by pulling out my weapon. I didn’t have to pull the trigger, he gave up, but I would have if needed be.

Did they have a gun?

And no matter the response glad it worked out.

No he did not have a gun but he did have a knife to her throat.

I also had my place broken into 3 times and I pulled out my gun and they ran away, I don’t know if they were armed as 1 of them was around 2am and all I saw was his silhouette coming in my window. So far I have yet to pull the trigger which I am very glad.

And that’s what I was getting at. Pulling a gun on someone is unpleasant. Having one pulled on you even more unpleasant. And when people are aiming at each other, I want people trained to deal with it. Rather than a half dozen random people shooting it out.

Protecting yourself in your home, and running toward somebody shooting in a mall are a little different.

When all this was happening to me I was working with the yavapi county sheriffs office as a civilian observer, I rode with an officer armed so I had to take all the classes and qualify. After that I joined the army and became a weapons instructor and trust me in iraq I had quite a few weapons pointed at me. After 27 years of carrying a weapon I have pulled mine many times but I have never fired it in anger and I hope I never will. BUT I am ready if I have to, to save lives.

I would say you are qualified in this area. But I can’t say I feel that way about a lot of the people I see that carry. I have talked to people that have ccw permit and have no idea how they got it.

I have seen men that have been trained run at the first sign of a bad guy with a gun and I have seen someone that wasn’t trained respond like a professional. It all comes down to what’s in the persons heart.

MAYBE….. if you would have been at the mall with your “gun” what would you have done. said a officer was in the mall, you pull yours out and he only sees that and not the perp with the gun, you may have been shot!!!!!! don’t see what all the hub bub is about carrying a gun around with you all the time, who needs one, get u into more trouble then its worth.

so your entire pathetical argument against carrying is a hypothetical situation. What would you do if you and your family were at the mall, a guy pulls out a gun and starts shooting people and someone next to you pulls out his gun and shoots this guy saving you and your family, then how would you feel about it.

your entire pathetical argument FOR carrying is a hypothetical situation.

I saved a woman from being murdered because I was carrying so take your hypothetical and shove it up your azz.

Really?

The shooter was a security guard at the mall.

A man with 2 guns in a gun free zone, probably couldn’t read the sign.

@maybe-That makes a lot of sense doesn’t it? The criminal with the gun could care less about their rules but the innocent people can’t defend themselves because they are obeying a stupid law.

The only place I don’t carry is a school, court house and bank. Otherwise if they have a sign that says no weapons I don’t do business there. I know they could care less only losing 1 customer but if every person that had a CCL did the same thing. Between 2012 and 2013 here in cerro gordo county the CCL permits went up 120% according to the sheriff.

Don’t go to bdubs then maybe. They don’t allow concealed weapons.

I don’t even know what bdubs is.

Bdubs is Buffalo Wild Wings.

I have heard the term bdubs but never knew what it meant.
