Suspect caught after man stabbed in Waterloo

WATERLOO – Waterloo police responded to a stabbing incident this week and later located a suspect, whom they arrested.

On Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at approximately 4:49 PM, Waterloo police officers were called about a stabbing that occurred in the area of Falls Ave. and Fletcher Ave.

The victim, Robert Fowler-Ortiz, age 29, said he was stabbed and was driving to Allen Hospital to seek treatment. Ortiz told Officers that he saw the suspect, Alex Hollingsworth, age 25, while driving on Highway 218 and Hollingsworth flashed a knife at him. They stopped their vehicles on the Fletcher Ave bridge and they both got out. At that time the suspect, Hollingsworth stabbed Ortiz one time in the torso. Ortiz had a puncture wound on his left side rib area.

Hollingsworth was located a short time later and a result of the investigation he was arrested on charges of Going Armed with Intent, Willful Injury, and Violation of a Protective Order.  He remains jailed at this time.
