MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was causing a disturbance Thursday at a grocery store, prompting a call to police and her arrest.
Police were called to Hy-Vee East on November 6 at about 5:34 AM after a woman, 31-year-old Eric Elizabeth Hanson, was at the Hy-Vee store located at 551 South Illinois Avenue with another woman casuing a loud disturbance. A source told NIT that the women seemed to be intoxicated and were laughing loudly, bumping into things, and were suspected of trying to shoplift, prompting employees to call police.
Officers arrived, and after an investigation, Hanson was arrested on a number of charges, including fifth degree theft, public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of meth, possession of hydromorphone, and possession of hydrocodone.
Hanson remains jailed as she awaits court dates.
