Leonard Foster declares intention to run for At-Large City Council seat

Press release from Leonard Foster of Mason City:

Mason City, IA:   The time is now.  Leonard Foster announces his intention to run for the At-large position on the Mason City City Council.  Leonard is no stranger to politics and city government, having previously served the second ward.  Driven by a desire to implement positive changes in city government, Leonard is anxious to promote that message.

Leonard has been visiting with the people of Mason City from all wards, backgrounds and income levels. With perception being reality, there are five concerns that have come to the surface: 1.) Current leadership is out of touch with the majority of the citizens.  They stated consistently that it appears that only one to two percent of the citizens are being represented. 2.)  Enough money has been spent on the sculptures, regardless of the revenue source. 3.) What about jobs?  Why doesn’t this seem like a priority?  4.)  The Blue Zones Program has taken over City Hall, and should be administered by Mercy Hospital and the Cerro Gordo County Health Department, not taxpayer dollars.  5.) Current leadership appears to pay more attention to things than people, with the exception of the top 1-2% of the population.

Leonard truly believes that the people have a right to be respected and heard.  And, to have an active part in what happens in their lives.

Leonard and his wife Marianne are lifetime residents of Mason City and have five children, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

If your going to vet people…like you have Bookmeyer using Iowa Courts Online…you have to do the same with Leonard. After reading all of the lawsuits against him…liens etc…you sure as hell don’t want him near city money. If you hold Bookmeyer to the standards of the Iowa courts online….do the same for the fosters..

That’s why you won’t have anyone with any substance run for Mayor, everyone has a skeleton.

Bad idea for Foster to get back in there was to much family stuff that got involved in right and wrong decisions.

If this was a baseball game Leonard would be out. Blue Zones is done on a state wide basis and no hospital or health department runs these in any cities. oh brings me back to when Max said the city didn’t need the state of Iowa to get a Toyota manufacturing plant. yeah, 3 billion dollars later it landed in Alabama. some people just don’t understand the facts-it’s not what you wish, hope for or don’t like. Bring us real positive ideas. not one of the1-2 percent, but very interested in strong, responsible, creative leadership. Don’t see Leonard being the lead dog on that sled.

Leonard’s a little old but a very wise old cat. I think we need someone like that again. “SEMPER FI”

Leonard, may have screwed up once or twice, but he is much better then what we have now…Jim

Some of you people were amazed with the mayor throwing his power around with a hair stylist!
Shall we rewind to 2003 when Mr. Foster was on the council having a conversation with the police dept:

“I’m over at my son’s right now,” Foster said in the Feb. 7 recording while talking to Sgt. Frank Stearns, a shift commander. “And I don’t want to see any of your officers up here.”

“It’s no threat, but I’m telling you,” continued Foster, “If I see anybody around here screwing up my family’s night, I’m coming down on you, OK?

“I don’t want to see your guys around here, do you understand?” said Foster. “I’m talking as a City Council member right now.”

Yes, I remember, and the PERIOD was used frequently too.

When Leonard was our councilman he made some mistakes, but he always listened to the people and would always get back to you with a answer. I think he truely wants to help people and understands the problems we have today. He had not been in politics as long as Turncoat who is nothing but a mouthpiece for the mayor and the top 2%.

Larry, when do you plan on announcing your candidacy and the office you will running for?

@Buzz Crummy TROLL-Well Buzz you old elitist troll. I will make you a deal. Just so you won’t have to strain your brain (In your condition you have to be careful). If you will post YOUR name and the office you are running for I will be happy to do the same. That way you won’t have to troll around posting under different names all the time and sniping on everyone else who post their opinion. All you and your type of troll can do is snipe at people and try to discredit their opinions. That is because of your limited intelligence and lack of ability. Maybe you should ask your lord and master the mayor (if you can sober him up). Come on troll, we are waiting to see your name, you Chicken SH##.

Come on Larry, what’s with all the name calling? I seem to see a trend happening with you. When ever someone questions you or says something you don’t agree with, you start with the name calling.

And, I guess I’m confused as to how I supposedly discredited you or your opinion. I asked you a very simple question and you go off on one of your name calling tantrums….again. I thought you were a bigger person than that, but I guess I was wrong.

@Buzz (Troll)-That’s what you get for trying to think. You should be used to being wrong. What did you say your name was again? Are you running for council or mayor or are you already on the council? Come on now, if you are going to troll and snipe you have to do better than that. It doesn’t surprise me that you don’t answer. All you trolls know how to do is sneak around making comments about people and y=trying to mislead people with false names. What name are you using tomorrow?

No disrespect but Mr. Foster has had a go at politics for many years here in Mason City. I would like to see some new faces and fresh ideas.

Have to agree, Peter. I don’t think Leonard can win, especially after his threatening call (yes, it was definitely threatening) to police.

@Just my opinion-I too was a little upset at how he used his position the last time. However, he was just trying to protect his family. He went at it in the wrong way but is that really any different than what is happening right now with the mayor threatening and intimidating everyone to get what he wants. Where is your outrage over that? How about the people around the hospital that were thrown under the buss by our current city government? I think Leonards good points outweigh his bad ones.
