CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man was jailed after police said he caused a two-car accident Thursday.
Police responded to the accident on Thursday at about 3:53 PM at Richings Street and Wisconsin Street. A 1993 Chevy pickup driven by Paul Meerdink, age 74 of Charles City, was struck by a 2012 Chevy Cruz driven by Patrick Steward, age 67, also of Charles City. Neither man was hurt in the crash.
However, Steward was charged with failure to yield the right of way, violation of a restricted license, and driving while revoked. He was jailed.
The accident caused about $2,000 in damage.
Online records show that Steward has up to four arrested for drunk driving.
