MASON CITY – A man police say was in possession of stolen property and charged with a felony took a lenient plea deal, but never showed up to be fingerprinted.

Mason City police say Shane Cory Simon, age 41, along with another man, Steven S. Johnson were in possession of a stolen snowplow, and were both charged with felony second degree theft last October.

In July, Simon accepted a plea deal and pled guilty only to interference with official acts. He was assessed $1,497.38 and was required to be fingerprinted but never showed up at the jail to do that. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and deputies caught up with him Thursday evening.

Steven Johnson’s charge remains in court. He is also facing charges of consuming alcohol in a public place stemming from an incident on August 31. He also is facing a charge of assault causing bodily injury from an incident on July 24.

Got by? Does that mean they snitches?

He is not only a thief but he is stupid too. If you want to get off with a plea deal just tell your lawyer that you want a trial by jury. You will have a deal before he ever gets out the door. They do not want a jury trial. They would have to do a little work then.

Oh whats the big deal hes only a thief no harm no foul. Our judges are so lazy they don’t want to sit in trial so a sweet plea is all they want anymore. F**ken country has become so lax even our judges could care less. Im no bleeding heart that’s for sure. Im an asshole.
