Man awaiting sentencing on drug charges leads cops on high-speed motorcycle chase before crash

motorcycle-accidentTRIPOLI, IOWA – An Iowa man’s game of cat and mouse with a law enforcement officer came to a crashing halt when his motorcycle struck an SUV on a Bremer county road.

According to an Iowa State Patrol report, 20-year-old Alexander Buss of Tripoli was riding a 2003 Kawasaki motorcycle on Highway C33 at Sable Avenue at speeds sometimes well in excess of 100 miles per hour when he streaked through the intersection and struck a 2014 Ford Explorer driven by 35-year-old Daniel Banks of Tripoli.

Buss was ejected from the motorcycle upon impact with the SUV and injured. He was taken to Allen Hospital in Waterloo and later released. He is now in the Bremer county jail in Waverly.

Buss is awaiting sentencing on drug charges at this time and was due in court in September. He is also accused of theft by Parkersburg police and is awaiting court in that case. Charges may be pending in the motorcycle chase.
