WATERLOO – An Iowa man suspected of killing the mother of three children before kidnapping them and triggering a state-wide manhunt is now in a jail cell in Cedar Rapids.
An Amber Alert for 8-year-old Brooklyn Gaffney, 6-year-old Mia Gaffney and 8-month-old Nevaeh Hogan was cancelled at about 11:15 PM Wednesday evening after Waterloo police located them. Earlier, in Walker, Iowa, the mother of the girls, 29-year-old Crystal Gaffney, was found dead with multiple injuries along a road. Hogan is now accused of murdering her.
It was reported that Gaffney and Hogan were due in court on Thursday for a custody hearing for their daughter, Nevaeh.
Hogan is being held without bond in the Linn County Jail in Cedar Rapids and made his initial court appearance Friday at 10:30 AM.
