WASHINGTON – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) recently announced that he intends for the House to vote to create a new select committee to investigate the September 11, 2012, terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya, that killed four Americans. He released the following statement:
“Americans learned this week that the Obama Administration is so intent on obstructing the truth about Benghazi that it is even willing to defy subpoenas issued by the standing committees of the People’s House. These revelations compel the House to take every possible action to ensure the American people have the truth about the terrorist attack on our consulate that killed four of our countrymen. In light of these new developments, the House will vote to establish a new select committee to investigate the attack, provide the necessary accountability, and ensure justice is finally served.
“The administration’s withholding of documents – emails showing greater White House involvement in misleading the American people – is a flagrant violation of trust and undermines the basic principles of oversight upon which our system of government is built. And it forces us to ask the question, what else about Benghazi is the Obama administration still hiding from the American people?
“The House committees that have been investigating this attack have done extraordinary work, using their subpoena power, holding dozens of hearings, and conducting hundreds of interviews. Without this work we would not know much that we do today. But it’s clear that questions remain, and the administration still does not respect the authority of Congress to provide proper oversight. This dismissiveness and evasion requires us to elevate the investigation to a new level. I intend for this select committee to have robust authority, and I will expect it to work quickly to get answers for the American people and the families of the victims.
“Four Americans died at the hands of terrorists nearly 20 months ago, and we are still missing answers, accountability, and justice. It’s time that change.”

President Obama’s motive for not going in and saving those who were killed is reason enough to investigate.
The obvious coverup was due to Obama saying the “war on terror” was over and he was puffing up his chest trying to get re-elected. That is criminal!
Lying while in office is unforgivable.
There are plenty of reasons to investigate and this is not a partisan issue. Democrats want answers too!
It is a sign of how pathetic and desperate the republicans are when they have to use the death of 4 Americans for political gain.
What happened in Benghazi, Libya, was a tragedy – not a scandal.
Hillary Clinton stated “I take responsibility.”
When things went wrong in Benghazi, the Obama administration took responsibility.
But when Republicans have the facts wrong on Benghazi, they don’t do the responsible thing.
They keep pursuing their partisan witch hunt, wasting millions of taxpayer dollars desperate to smear President Obama.
I guess I missed hearing Clinton say she was the one who authorized Susan Rice to mislead the public on the Sunday talk show circuit about this all being about a video.
And I guess I missed her taking credit for “The administration’s withholding of documents – emails showing greater White House involvement in misleading the American people.”
If the parties involved were switched around, the Dems would surely accuse the Repub’s of a cover-up. You can count on that.
Republicans have forgotten for there to be a coverup, there needs to be something to cover up.
And the fact is that neither President Obama nor Hillary Clinton committed a crime of any sort. The only criminals are the terrorists in Benghazi.
Aside from the fact that they also share in the blame due to their funding cuts, I suspect that foreign policy misadventures is not a subject that Republicans want to address in a reality-based way given what they forced on the nation with Iraq.
This is LONG overdue.
NO kidding. If all the information comes out maybe our peice of crap president will finally be impeached.
