Dirty doctor sent to slammer for a week

HAMPTON – A judge says this dirty doctor is either a bully or thinks he is a above the law, but either way, he’ll be in jail for a week for following his victim into a Hampton convenience store after he was ordered to keep his distance.

At a sentencing hearing Monday, Brian J. Hansen, age 41 of Hampton, was ordered by Judge Colleen Weiland to serve 7 days in jail starting Tuesday, with no work release, for violating terms of his probation related to a guilty plea to sexual exploitation.

Hansen was arrested in December of 2013 after following one of his victims into the Casey’s General Store in Hampton and reportedly “stood next to her and gave her a dirty look.”

A no-contact order had been imposed on Hansen to stay away from his victims.

The Hampton Chronicle reported that Judge colleen Weiland said during sentencing that “Inherent in the underlying offense was a pattern of disregard for appropriate boundaries and the disrespect for the vulnerabilities of other people.  This violation demonstrates to me either an intent to intimidate or to assert that same privilege, or at least a failure on your part to acknowledge intimidation and privilege assertion as the perceived effect of occupying the same space as a protected party.”

“It’s your responsibility to avoid contact, which you could have done in a couple of ways that you’ve acknowledged here,” said Weiland. “It’s somewhat befuddling to me that you, as an intelligent person, didn’t figure that out in the few seconds that you were contemplating it.”
