WASHINGTON – Over 15,000 Iowans have now enrolled in private health insurance plans through the Health Insurance Marketplace website, the federal government said this week.
According to a report released Monday by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, 15,346 people in Iowa signed up for private health insurance plans between October 1st and March 1st.

Across the US, enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace continued to rise in February to a five-month total of 4.2 million.
As in January, the percent of young adults who selected a Marketplace plan was 3 percentage points higher than it was from October through December (27 percent versus 24 percent). Based on enrollment patterns in other health care programs, it is expected that more people will sign up as the March 31st deadline approaches.
“Over 4.2 million Americans have signed up for affordable plans through the Marketplace,” said HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. “Now, during this final month of open enrollment our message to the American people is this: you still have time to get covered, but you’ll want to sign up today – the deadline is March 31st.”
In Iowa, 56% of those who signed up are female. The largest age bracket that signed up was 55-64, comprising 35% of enrollees.

The website does not work. The customer service is a farse.
Only 19% of the people who have signed up are new signers. 81% have signed up because they lost their insurance and had no other option. The lie about everything and manipulate the numbers.
And, what they don’t tell you is most of these were on the old Title 19. It is a false number and that is why their premiums are going up next year. How many people have lost full time jobs because of this monstrosity? I have heard there were nurses laid off at the surgery clinic who were full time nurses and they are now being replaced with part time nurses. What about the people who have lost their insurance? (if you like your insurance you can keep it).
Take the governments numbers and subtract people who have not paid the premium, and those who lost their healthcare and we’re forced into Obama care to get a more accurate number. That’s of course if you believe what their saying.
