Mason City man accepts plead deal in burglary, domestic assault, tampering cases

MASON CITY – A Mason City man will plead guilty to a charge of felony D willful injury later this month.

Records indicate that 22-year-old Bernard Ware was originally charged with felony B first degree burglary, but has pleaded guilty on March 3 to felony D willful injury resulting in bodily injury. Mason City police brought the felony charge against Ware after he entered a home without permission on December 13, 2013, and injured a person there.

Ware will be sentenced April 28, 2014.

Ware is also awaiting sentencing that day on a charge brought by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office of solicitation to commit an aggravated misdemeanor for tampering with a witness.  He has agreed on March 10, 2014 to an undisclosed plea deal on that charge as well.

Again on March 10th, Ware agreed to a plea deal related to a charge of second offense domestic assault, with 19 counts of violating a protective order on the victim.  He will again be sentenced on April 28th as part of that plea deal.

Ware is not done in court, however.  He has pleaded not guilty to a charge of obstruction of emergency communications and will face a trial on May 30th.
