Honors Day to be held at Waldorf College

waldorf-college-tuition-freezeFOREST CITY – On April 2, Waldorf College students, faculty, staff and alumni will come together to celebrate the honors of academic excellence. The annual Waldorf College Honors Day ceremony will be held in the campus atrium at 10:30 a.m. followed by a lunch with President Dr. Robert Alsop in the Salveson Ballroom.

Honors Day is an event held to honor outstanding and deserving students and faculty. “It is a celebration of past, present and future,” President Alsop said.

Last spring, 214 scholarships totaling more than $350,000 were awarded to current and future Waldorf students. “Scholarships help to ease the financial burden of college, allowing students to focus on their vocation rather than how they will pay back student loans,” Alsop said.

Honors Day is also a time to acknowledge and thank the donors who have established and contributed to the scholarships that make Honors Day possible. “The donors who attend have the opportunity to tell the story behind the scholarship and to hear how that story intertwines with the lives of the recipients,” Alsop said.

Waldorf faculty is also recognized during this celebration day, where one faculty member is presented with the Professor of the Year award chosen by students. Inductees of Alpha Chi Honors Society, who have earned a 3.8 GPA or higher also receive acknowledgement at this Honors Day event.
