Lover’s spat at motel sends Mason City woman to jail

MASON CITY – A quarrel between two women this week at a local hotel sent ended with one of the women in jail.

Mason City police were called to the Ashley Inn Motel, 3451 Federal Avenue, on Monday evening at about 7:16 PM on a report of a disturbance between two women in one of the rooms. Police were told that a woman had been assaulted by another female subject and that the aggressor had left the motel.

Police caught up to Katlynd Leeann Hesse,age 23, a short time later, who it was said had left on foot.

Hesse was arrested for assault and public intoxication and taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail. She plead guilty to the public intoxication charge, her second time in 2013 of doing so. She plead not guilty to the assault charge and awaits a January 2nd, 2014 trial.

Hesse plead guilty to charges brought by Mason City police in 2011 of public intoxication and disorderly conduct/fighting/violent behavior. She still owes Iowa courts $500.00 in fees and fines. She also plead guilty to charges brought by Mason City police in 2012 and 2013 of possession of drug paraphernalia. She owes Iowa courts $214.50 and $511.50, respectively, in fines and fees in those cases.
