NORMAN, Okla. – The No. 25 Iowa State volleyball team was in a battle throughout the entire match with Oklahoma at the McCasland Field House. However, it was the Sooners who came out on top 3-2 (20-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-17, 12-15) Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped Iowa State to 8-5 on the season and 2-1 in Big 12 play. Oklahoma improved to 14-3 and 2-1 in the Big 12.
The fifth set was grueling, tough battle with no margin for error for most of the set. However, Oklahoma was eventually able to get ahead. After a Mackenzie Bigbee kill got ISU back to an 11-10 deficit, Oklahoma went on a 3-0 run on the back of Sallie McLaurin to get it to 14-10 and a match point.
Iowa State was able to fight off the first two match points, but on the third one Kierra Holst buried a kill to give Oklahoma the match.
