MASON CITY – The NIACC campus came alive Saturday with a community-wide Fields of Fun celebration as part of this year’s homecoming festivities.
The morning kicked off with Robert’s Run, with participants of all ages running four miles, or walking 1.4 miles in the memory of Robert Davis, who ran four miles every morning.
After recognizing medal winners and a message from the Davis family, attendees took advantage of a number of family friendly activities, including hayrack rides touring the campus and farm, a bounce house, balloon artist, and sand art.
The Trojan athletic teams showed off their skills during inter-squad scrimmages, and then everyone enjoyed a free lunch. A group of gentlemen was recognized for being at Mason City Junior College during the transition to North Iowa Area Community College.
Magician Ran’D Shine entertained while most people were finishing their meals, and then everyone headed out to the soccer field for the showcase game.
During halftime, the homecoming king and queen were crowned. It was a beautiful day, with campus filled with happy students, faculty, staff, and community members.
