What exactly did those people do who had pay cuts?
Hard to make rational judgements without knowing exactly what they did and how much each was paid.Matt can you post those job descriptions?

It’s wonderful to see that the MC Board of Education has its priorities messed up so badly. Its Obama scare tactics have worked on what the parents think is most important instead of what the children really need the most. Since when do you give children what they want instead of what they should have when it comes to something this important?

Since now. Actually parents have been doing that for a long time. It is just at it’s worst right now and not getting any better.

Why are sports ranked above education? As far as I am concerned I want my kids to have TEACHERS and aides to help them learn. Sports is extra they should come second. No one wants to lose pay, but thats the best way to get more money into the budget. Start at the top and skim it down. There are plenty of us trying to make it on MUCH much less than what the administrators make.

this has been going on for years. I remember a teacher some 35 years ago comment on this. ads would read WANTED football coach.. subject to be determined later
WANTED basketball coach.. subject to be determined later. you get the point. coaching brings on money and status. same reason kimt posts minnisota news. stay where the money is.

I reject the notion that kids can’t learn as good if we don’t pay someone over $160,000 grand.

There was never going to be a cut in coaches. Just a scare tactic from Micich.
So sad to parade kids who have never paid a dime in taxes, with tears in their eyes, to try and motivate the tax payer to give more. Shameless!
If you really want to see if the district has money or not, watch the pay raises given out here in a few weeks. They have tons of money, and like all government, they just want more and more.

@sad-yes, and then there was the threat, if you don’t pass what we asked for just wait until next year and see what happens. We nee to clean house on the school board as things will never change if we have that same bunch in there.

The School Board and the good Doctor are simply setting up the public for an emotional backlash to the support of the Instuctional School Levey.

This is a pre emptive strike, designed to gin up sympathy among voters who are finally having a voice in how tax payer dollars are spent. On the face of this the Board says that they are against rising educational costs. Truth be known they are cutting in all the wrong places. I think their phoney baloney cuts to education will back fire on them. Im still voting NO based on their amazing ineptitude.

That is bull crap the kids need them

Priorities….look to be in place!!!! Um, not!

I see you like my name enough to copy it.

So you cut teachers without any students none of you will have a job! Teachers are needed. How about some of the people in the district take a pay cut and not jeopardize losing stundents ! You need to look at the pay of some others ! With losing such great teachers parents will just send there kids to a deferent district who cares about education and sports !

so why not cut you pay Anita by 115,000 dollars, you would still be making 60,000 dollars, still a livable salary! HAHAHAHAHA!!!

That’s Dr. Michich to you. As soon as you earn a PhD from Vanderbilt I will listen to your opinion over hers. Count your blessings that someone with these qualifications has decided to work in Mason City.

No…sorry. I agree. Cut ANITA….no Dr. about it. Her pay is WAY TOO HIGH.

Oh my Anita. For someone with a PhD you just made a huge mistake with that comment. I am also a degreed educated woman. If I were in your position I would choose words with compassion and respect! We have met before and I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt….I didn’t much care for our interaction before and now am once again shocked that a PhD didn’t learn any personal relation skills to obtain this degree. You are only a good Dr if you choose to serve others and not yourself! Of this I’m very well aware! I have had children through MCschools. I have encountered many respectable faculty. I have also encountered several with tenure who simply do NOT care. Maybe those who have lost the passion for teaching should have been cut. Maybe you yourself should take a lesson of compassion and concern.

We have met before and I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt….I didn’t much care for our interaction before and now am once again disappointed! I have had children through MC schools. I have encountered many respectable faculty. I have also encountered and been told of situations of some teachers with tenure who simply do NOT care. Maybe those who have lost the passion for teaching should have been cut. Maybe you yourself should take a lesson of compassion and concern. At that point I will be more than happy to respectably refer to you as Dr!

In response to my post…I just saw the way Dr Anita Micich was misspelled in the comment that I intrupted as written by Anita. I hope others do not do the same. Making cuts is not ever an easy choice. I personally think that better options may be out there. I continue stand by that thought. I realize that this post was NOT posted by Anita Micich and offer an apoligy. I am very happy to see that it was not! I posted twice because i feel that if you feel strongly enough to make a comment you should own it…and now I am owning my misunderstanding of the prior post in which i responded. Thank you!

I always thought PHD stood for post hole digger. My apologies to any post hole diggers out there.

Why not cut the board of education members first?
