FORT DODGE – An Iowa teen was reported missing on Monday and later that day, was tragically found deceased in a pond on the outskirts of Fort Dodge.

On Monday, June 16th, 2025, the Fort Dodge Police Department took a missing persons/runaway report of a juvenile male, 16-year-old Oliver J. Brockbank of Fort Dodge, by his family. The Fort Dodge Police Department conducted an investigation to locate Oliver. According to the family, Oliver was last seen at his residence in Fort Dodge at 10:30 PM on June 15, 2025.

Tragically, the outcome of the investigation ended in the worst way, as the Fort Dodge Police Department reported on Tuesday, June 17, the passing of Oliver J. Brockbank (pictured at top, via police). They say that on June 16, 2025, Oliver was found deceased in a body of water located southeast of 200th Street and Quail Avenue, in the Fort Dodge/Webster County area. His body was recovered with the assistance of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Story County Dive Team.

“At this time, investigators have found no indication of foul play in the circumstances surrounding Oliver’s death,” according to Fort Dodge police. “Oliver was last seen at his residence on the evening of June 15th. Since receiving the initial report, the Fort Dodge Police Department has worked diligently with multiple law enforcement agencies and first responders in hopes of bringing him home safely. Sadly, this was not the outcome we hoped for. Our hearts go out to Oliver’s family, friends and all of those affected by this tragic loss. We ask that the community keep them in their thoughts and respect their privacy as they grieve.”

The Fort Dodge Police Department extended its sincere gratitude to the many agencies who assisted in the investigation and search, including the Fort Dodge Fire Department, the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, Webster County Emergency Management, the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the Story County Dive Team, and the Story County Drone Team.
