Waldorf College hires Director of Institutional Research and Assessment

Forest City, Iowa –Waldorf College has hired Bob Mattson of Oglesby, Ill. as the director of institutional research and assessment.

“We’ve collected a lot of information about demographics, retention, and other areas of our campus, and this new role will help us analyze the data,” said Dr. Scott Searcy, interim vice president of academic affairs and dean of the college. “We plan on looking at the information in various capacities to impact recruitment and retention.”

Mattson was hired after a nationwide search.  He comes to Waldorf from Illinois Valley Community College where he worked with institutional research for the last five years. Mattson also has over 20 years of teaching experience and will also serve as an adjunct math instructor at Waldorf.

“I realize that to become better, Waldorf has to look at what we’ve been doing in the past,” Mattson said. “Being able to measure what’s working and what’s not and suggesting how to improve our results will be a large part of my role.”

Mattson’s position will bring additional data to help improve institutional health by providing insight as to where the college can look to the future as well as where the college can best impact current students.

“It’s nice to measure how successful we are,” Mattson said. “We’re working on improving the future education of our students in the best possible way.”
