Bilingual Puppet Performance at the MacNider Museum

Stories and Cuentos

MASON CITY – Monica Leo of Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre of West Liberty, Iowa and Mexican puppeteer Eli Portugal, co-founder of Mojiganga Arte Escenico, will present a bilingual performance in Spanish and English of Stories and Cuentos at the MacNider Art Museum on Thursday, November 8. Admission to the show is free and open to the public.

The performance tells two delightful animal tales. The Rabbit in the Moon, a well-known myth, gives a whimsical explanation for the shadows in the moon while amusing audiences with the age-old battle of wits between rabbit and coyote, The Musical Ant follows Hormiguita (little ant) as he learns to play the piano and brings peace to his ant colony through music.

Performances will be at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 7:00 p.m. in the Salsbury Room of the MacNider Art Museum, 303 Second Street SE, Mason City. The 7:00 p.m. performance is open to the public and no reservations are required. The 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. performances are designed for school groups, but are also open to the public. If your group includes 10 or more for the daytime performances, please call 641-421-3666 for reservations. Free admission to all shows is made possible by a grant from the Bertha Stebens Charitable Foundation.
